Herring are in..

Date: April 3, 2019

The Herring are in, the Herring are in! Yep, those tasty little swimming tidbits that stripers like so much, have started filtering into the local rivers and runs. You can always tell by the amount of bird life that congregate around the fish ladders in hopes of an easy meal. they start with what I called the scouts. They’re the first hearing that arrived in April. Soon to be followed by the masses. On their migrations to local ponds and lakes to spawn the next generation I’ll striper candy. For the next week or two, I’m a freshwater Fisher. This is a great time to hook into some huge largemouth bass in the kettle hole ponds of the cape.
Cape Cod is about to pop. With the first signs of herring comes a renewed enthusiasm a fighting slashing linesiders in shallow water.
Of course, stripers are not the only critters that enjoy hearing as a snack. The multitudes of osprey in the backwaters of popponesset Bay and cotuit Bay put on quite a show as they dive for their morning and evening meals.
It’s shaping up to be a great season, call soon and reserve your day.
Until then, tight lines everybody
